Pemberton Festival Site A Go

Live Nation has been greenlighted to use a plot of prime agricultural land in the village of Pemberton, British Columbia, to present the second year of the promoter’s Pemberton Festival.

According to a decision by the Agricultural Land Commission, Live Nation will work with the village, overarching regional district and an agronomist to preserve the integrity of the land and develop a plan to restore it after the event, the Whistler Question reported.

The three would be required to enter into a memorandum of understanding by July 1, 2009, at which point LN would be granted three years of approvals for site use, with the possibility of two three-year extensions, the paper said.

Although the site issue was the largest obstacle to a repeat performance for the event, LN has yet to announce whether it will go ahead with the event in 2009, which would require a very tight schedule.

A Live Nation representative was not available for comment at press time.
