East Cleveland Venue Visions

The mayor of a Cleveland suburb is set on building a 12,000-capacity amphitheatre within the city’s historic Forest Hill Park but is facing some major obstacles before the project can get off the ground.

East Cleveland Mayor Eric Brewer recently said he’s spoken to developers about shed plans, according to the Plain Dealer, but officials with an advisory commission that oversees the park have said they will deny any requests to build on the grounds.

Commission member Bonnie Caplan told the paper the mayor’s notion that a shed could prove profitable is unlikely considering that another local amphitheatre has been subsidized annually to stay afloat.

“He doesn’t stand a chance,” Caplan told the paper. “There will be no more building in that park.”
