The Motley Fool Web site put the spotlight on the music industry – for good and for ill – with its Dec. 16 advice to investors to chuck Warner Music Group stock.

Aristotle Munarriz, in an article titled “Throw This Stock Away,” called the industry “archaic” and said even digital delivery couldn’t “breathe new life into the sector.”

His advice to toss WMG was because its revenue had dropped 2 percent in fiscal 2008, among other nagging problems.

However, among Munarriz’s three stocks to keep is Live Nation, saying the company’s ability to take on both the labels and Ticketmaster makes LN “one of the few music companies to see the future.”
