Winehouse’s Norwegian Return
Winehouse has been summoned to appear in a Norwegian court Jan. 12 to appeal a fine for drugs possession, according to a police prosecutor. Winehouse and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, were arrested in the western city of Bergen in October 2007. The concert stop included charges of possessing 7 grams of marijuana, and the couple was fined and detained overnight.
“She is the one who appealed, so that makes it her appeal,” Police prosecutor Rudolf Christoffersen said. “Often, if you don’t appear at your own appeal hearing, then the court will dismiss the appeal.”
Winehouse’s Norwegian attorney said paying the 3,000 kroner ($415) fine equated a guilty plea, which could have serious consequences if she tries to enter the U.S.
Winehouse was denied a U.S. visa this year when she wanted to perform at the Grammy awards ceremony.
Winehouse instead performed via satellite and accepted best record, best song and best new artist awards while onstage across the pond.
