Blues Fest To Face Axe?

One of Tasmania’s largest music events, the Southern Roots Festival, may face the axe in its third year.

Promoter Charles Touber blamed the falling Australian dollar for making U.S. acts too expensive.

“A lot of tours that were considered certain for mid-2009 have fallen off the radar,” Touber said.

In 2008, the festival attracted 8,000 fans to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens to see John Fogerty and Keith Urban.
