Opeth has been around since 1990 and making records since 1995. The band, which has more former members than current ones, has been described as death metal with touches of jazz and folk plus a tendency to create long musical interludes.
The tour, the group’s third in support of 2008’s Watershed, is sponsored by Decibel magazine.
The journey starts at Starland Ballroom in Sayerville, N.J., May 1 and ends at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. May 27. Stops include Boston, Montreal, Omaha, Neb., Los Angeles, Tucson, Ariz., and little old Chico, Calif. – home of one partyin’ college.
