Krewe Captain Sonny Borey said in a statement that his club became aware of “certain remarks Mr. Mencia has made in regards to New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina” and felt it would be disrespectful to the community to include the comedian.

The comedian had also been scheduled to perform at the Orpheus ball after the parade.
