Wayne To Stand Trial
A New York City judge has ordered Lil’ Wayne to stand trial on a gun possession charge stemming from a 2007 arrest following his concert at the Beacon Theatre.
The rapper pleaded not guilty to the charge and is free on $70,000 bail. Lil’ Wayne was arrested after a police officer, who claimed she smelled pot smoke, boarded his bus and allegedly saw him trying to hide the gun.
Defense attorney Stacey Richman argued the search wasn’t legit because the officer falsely claimed she smelled pot so she could board the bus. The judge wasn’t convinced and set an April 20 trial date.
