Peace Concert Turns Violent

Police in Silver Spring, Md., arrested 16 people on various charges March 7 during a “Stop The Violence” concert.

Montgomery County Police Department spokesman Lt. Ken Starks told the Washington Post that officers responded to reports of disorderly conduct toward the end of the show, which reportedly drew several thousand people.

The fracas during the concert, organized by youth-based nonprofit Mixed Unity, allegedly started in a mosh pit. Entertainment included a capella groups, poetry and live music.

No serious injuries or property damage was reported, the paper said.
