Club Complaint For Williams

A clubgoer recently accused former Yankee and current jazz artist Bernie Williams of striking her when she tried to take his picture at a nightclub in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but officials for the venue have come forward with some inconsistencies in the woman’s story.

Bill Duggan, who owns Shannan’s Pub where Williams had been invited to perform with a local band, told the New York Times that the time the woman claimed the incident occurred was inaccurate according to videotapes and the woman told security staff the issue had been resolved.

Williams, who served as a presenter at the 20th Anniversary Pollstar Awards, called the incident a “misunderstanding,” according to the Times. The four-time World Series star was in San Juan playing with the Puerto Rican team in the World Baseball Classic, the paper noted. Williams’ last major league baseball season was 2006.
