Twice The Rockwall

Rockwall, Texas, is bucking the trend and doubling the number of free public performances in the city’s summer concert series.

Concerts By the Lake, which last year included performances by King Creole and Django Walker, was given $50,800 plus $4,800 in overtime for police presence by the Rockwall City Council so that the series will double from 12 concerts to 24 and run April 16 to Sept. 24 at The Harbor amphitheatre, according to the Rockwall County Herald Banner.

Approximately 3,500 people attended each concert last summer.

“Times are tough,” councilman Cliff Sevier said. “We’re doing this for the betterment of our community.” No acts had been announced at press time.
