On Monday The Streets aka Mike Skinner wrote on his Twitter account: “I am going to tweet 3 new songs this week. I can’t be bothered with all this trying to sell you music. It wastes valuable time.”

Dude, what a true artist. It’s all about the music, yo.

Less than five hours later Skinner tweeted: “I think i regret saying I’d post 3 new songs”

He then added: “day 1 will be easy. ive got one nearly done. day 2 easy. day 3 is looking tricky. might have to post a totally rubbish one”

Skinner said he was taking some time to watch “The Usual Suspects” for some “Kevin Spacey inspiration.”

Tuesday afternoon Skinner posted the link to his first free song of the week, a 3:12 minute track called “i love my phone.”

I’ve listened to the tune several times and it’s pretty dang catchy! It will be interesting to see if he pulls off the next two songs, especially the third one which he says might be “totally rubbish.”

Wednesday morning Skinner wrote: “Todays song is done. I’m going to look at some Picasso and then have a baguette merguez”

Five hours later his hotdog had turned into a trip to the pub.

“I seem to have ended up in the pub which is pretty maverick since I promised you all a song by the end of the day,” he wrote.

He then twittered a picture of a glass of beer with the caption “the song will be sung.”

Skinner added,“Right, focus mike.”

It’s almost 6 p.m. in London – will Skinner post the second song by the end of the day? Stay tuned.

The Streets most recent non-Twitter release was last September’s album Everything Is Borrowed.

MTV.co.uk wrote that Skinner has one record left to wrap up his record deal. The album will be called “Computers And Blues” and after that point he will retire “The Streets” name.

* UPDATE *

Skinner posted his second song on Twitter around 6:30 p.m. London time. The 3:28 minute tune is called “trust me” and it’s also not half bad!
