No Sort Of Homecoming

Scotland’s Homecoming Festival has been canceled because organisers feel that local officials want too much for the site.

Those behind the May 2-3 dance-oriented gathering in the Scottish seaside town of Irvine, Ayreshire, say they’ve scrapped the 25,000-capacity festival because the local area council has demanded 50 percent of the profit and a £60,000 bond on the land.

A note on the festival Web site reads: “All ticket holders will be entitled to a full refund, and arrangements are currently being made to organise new venues and dates for some of the artists that were scheduled to perform at Homecoming 09.”

It wasn’t possible to get comment from the council at press time.
