Amy & Vince ‘Challenge America’

Scheduled for the John F. Kennedy Center June 8, the event will launch the nationwide Challenge America initiative, which will work with communities to support the development of recreational and occupational programs for returning injured members of the military and their families.

Grant and Gill will have plenty of friends helping them help the vets. Michael McDonald, Alison Krauss, Darius Rucker, Melinda Doolittle, Mac McAnally and author Stephen Mansfield are all expected to appear at the Kennedy Center with Grant and Gill.

Challenge America grew out of Challenge Aspen, a non-profit that provides adaptive recreation for people with disabilities. Grant and Gill have worked with Challenge Aspen since 2000. Their efforts, including hosting golf tournaments, entertaining during fundraisers and volunteering, are credited with raising more than $3.5 million for the nonprofit.

“Every person in every community across the country has the opportunity to welcome home our wounded heroes with open arms,” Grant said. “Vince and I want this event at the Kennedy Center to be a special night for launching Challenge America, and to inspire us all to find ways in our own communities to serve the ones who have served us.”

Tickets for the event kicking off Challenge America go on sale May 2 and are priced at $50, $75 and $95 for general admission and $500 for gold circle seating, which includes a post-reception show.
