Yankees Play Ball
The New York Yankees are finally going to play ball with fans over premium ticket prices at the team’s new stadium.
During the first few games in the new park, patchy attendance in the Legends Suite – where season tickets range from $500 to $2,500 per game – was apparently embarrassing enough that the team decided to make some big concessions for fans.
“A few weeks ago I indicated that in light of the economy we would review the pricing of a small number of our premium locations at Yankee Stadium,” team co-owner Hal Steinbrenner said in a statement.
Prices for Legends Suite seats and other prime locations in the park have been slashed by up to 50 percent and fans that purchased the top-level tickets will be eligible for additional free seats for the 2009 season.
