19 Years To Life For Spector
The famed record producer faced at least 15 years to life in prison for Clarkson’s death, the mandatory sentence under California law. But the big question going into this morning’s sentencing was how many additional years Spector would receive because Clarkson’s death was a shooting fatality.
Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson had already asked for an additional four years, while Spector’s defense attorney, Doron Weinberg, had asked the judge to reduce the DA’s request to three years.
But the judge sided with the D.A. this morning and sentenced the 69-year-old music legend to 19 years to life. The judge also ordered Spector to make restitution payments in the form of more than $16,800 in funeral expenses and more than $9,700 to a state victim’s assistant fund.
Spector’s lawyer said his client will appeal the conviction.
