Loc, whose birth name is Anthony Terrell Smith, was taken to a hospital via ambulance, treated and released. The rapper’s manager said flight delays and Florida panhandle heat contributed to Loc’s wilting onstage.

A spokesman for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department concurred with at least half of the manager’s explanation, telling Associated Press Loc had collapsed and suffered a seizure due to overheating.

Although Loc is known for his ‘80s rap hits, the artist has also built a respectable movie career over the years, appearing in the 1989 flick “Uncle Buck,” the 1990 movie “Adventures of Ford Fairlane” and 1993’s “Poetic Justice.” Along with acting, Loc has done voice work for several TV programs and films, including “Titan A.E.,” “Ferngully: The Last Rainforest” and “King of the Hill.”
