While making his way through a party, Dr. Dre pours himself a Dr. Pepper and explains, “Scientific tests prove when you drink Dr. Pepper slow, the 23 flavors taste even better. For me, slow always produces a hit,” Dre said.

This isn’t just any ol commercial, it’s a sneak peak at the album fans have been waiting for nearly 10 years.

Once he reaches the crowd partying on the rooftop, Dre takes over the DJ stand by plopping down a can of Dr. Pepper on the spinning record and debuting about 10 seconds from his long anticipated album, Detox.

Music blog NahRight.com notes the sneak peak track is “Shit Popped Off,” a recent collaboration with T.I. that was previously leaked.

Dre wraps up the commercial by reminding fans, “Slow is better. Trust me, I’m a doctor.”

I still don’t get the whole 23 flavors thing. What the heck does that mean?! Why 23? What do all these individual flavors taste like? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of Dr. Pepper, but I’d say there’s maybe two flavors. Or maybe it’s just that I’ve been going about this the wrong way and I just need to slowly enjoy my next can of soda.

Some may criticize Dre as a sellout for doing the Dr. Pepper commercial, but maybe it’s just his way of explaining to fans why it’s taking so long to release another album after 1999’s 2001. He’s just taking it slow. He knows what he’s doing – he’s a doctor!

Los Angeles Times blog Pop & Hiss notes that Detox is expected to be released by the end of this year after being scheduled to be released since 2004.
