Eminem Cops To Bruno Stunt
Em told RapRadar.com everything about the stunt was rehearsed, including the rapper’s indignation and anger when Cohen, appearing in his “Bruno” character and flying across the Gibson Amphitheatre’s audience while suspended by wires, appeared to collide with something on the ceiling and fell, ass-up, into Eminem’s lap, giving the rapper an extreme close-up of Cohen’s buttocks.
“Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards.” Eminem told RapRadar.com “I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag.”
Eminem said that, after the stunt with Cohen, he went back to his hotel room and laughed for three hours. And laughed some more when he watched the entire incident on playback.
“I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it,” said the rapper.
There were rumblings the event was staged almost as soon as Em walked out of the Gibson. Despite the supposed equipment problem that resulted in Cohen landing upside down in Eminem’s lap, the comedian never seemed to be in any real danger and maintained his Bruno character through the entire incident.
Plus, MTV Awards head writer Scott Aukerman acknowledged on his own blog that the incident was a fully rehearsed stunt.
And now Em has copped to being in on the gag from the start. All we can say is well-played, Em. Well-played.
