A Capitol Idea

The Capitol Music Hall in Wheeling, W.V., is getting a $396,522 kick start of the city’s federal funds to help bring the historic building into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The Wheeling City Council voted June 2 to allocate all of the city’s community development block grant funds to the project, for use in building accessible restrooms and addressing other ADA issues.

The Wheeling-Ohio County Convention and Visitors Bureau purchased the building from Live Nation earlier this year and plans to renovate it. Fire code violations shut the building down in 2007.

The historic building was home to the Jamboree USA live country music radio show for 72 years.
