Rocawear Goes East

Jay-Z has signed a partnering agreement with Iconix China to sell his Rocawear brand in China.

The brand’s 2010 clothing line will be manufactured by Bosideng Holdings, and already there are plans afoot to open 300 Rocawear stores in China starting in 2012.

Company rights to the brand trademark were reportedly sold to Iconix for $204 million two years ago.

Jay-Z said in a statement that the deal helps fulfill his commitment to “bringing an authentic interpretation of American fashion to young people around the world.”

The deal is also said to be a 50-50 joint venture between Iconix Brand Group and Novel Fashion Holding Ltd.
