No Shrimp On The Barbie for Jane’s Addiction
Turns out an infection in the elbow of Jane’s percussionist Stephen Perkins has put the kibosh on the Down Under tour, scheduled to start July 26 in Brisbane. Perkins has been admitted to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for antibiotic treatment, and doctors want to keep an eye on him and his elbow for a few days.
The Jane’s Addiction world tour, which is the first in 17 years to feature the band’s original lineup, has been one of the concert high points this year, as one half of a co-headline romp with Nine Inch Nails and non-NIN shows as well. The band had just returned from playing Europe when Perkins noticed severe swelling and pain building in his elbow.
“I know how excited we were to come play in Australia, and how long the fans there have waited for this,” said Jane’s frontman Perry Farrell. “I want everyone Down Under to know that we will come back as soon as we can.”
