Placebo Postpones North America
It all started in Asia where Molko reportedly picked up the unidentified virus which eventually led to the singer’s onstage collapse at the Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka, Japan. Although Molko is safely tucked away in his London home while he recovers from the anonymous affliction, his doctor has ordered six week of bed rest, thus putting North America, which was scheduled to begin in Portland, Ore., Sept. 12, on hold until … later.
Tour cancellations and postponements rarely occur in a vacuum and Placebo postponing North America is no exception. Like the previously announced Aerosmith tour cancellation which suddenly gave special guest ZZ Top a big gap in the concert calendar, Los Angeles band Nico Vega, which was scheduled to open for Placebo, now has a big hole in its September schedule.
From Placebo’s management company, Riverman Management:
“This is pretty devastating for everyone – we’ve only ever canceled 3 shows in Placebo’s 14 year history, however Brian’s health is paramount. Our sincere apologies go out to Placebo’s loyal American fans who have waited a long time to see the band. We will try and do everything to rearrange the dates as soon as possible.”
