Honeymooning At Haldern

Pennsylvania singer-songwriter Denison Witmer was happy to interrupt his honeymoon to fill Paolo Nutini’s slot at Haldern Festival in Germany, after the Scottish star had to pull out for health reasons.

Witmer and his wife were traveling through Europe and it wasn’t hard to persuade the American – reportedly a fan of the 5,500-capacity festival – to fill the breach.

Haldern organiser Stefan Reichmann said this year’s renewal was one of the best in the event’s 26-year history. It sold out early June, as is usually the case, and before all the main acts had been announced.

“People trust our booking policy and they are happy to buy tickets before they know who is playing because they know it will always be a good bill,” Reichmann explained.

The acts helping to make Reichmann’s point Aug. 13-16 included The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Fettes Brot, Loney Dear, Athlete, Gravenhurst and Wintersleep.
