Love has taken to her Twitter account to publish dozens of ranting tweets on the controversy, defending the role she played in bringing the avatar to life and condemning Activision and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl.

“FOR THE RECORD I DID NOT APPROVE KURTS AVATAR FOR GUYITARHERO5. i think Kurt would despise this game alone let alone this avatar,” Love tweeted.

“this is NECROPHILIC this is VILE,” she wrote, advising readers to address all calls to her lawyer and her publicist. She added that, “i vomited when i saw the avatar got ill cried.”

Here’s what she had to say about Grohl in response to a Guardian blogger who blamed her for Cobain’s avatar disaster: “you can a**rape dave he was always a bad seed and is stillriding the s**t while i take bullets if theres a hell hes going. im not.”

Although Love claims she didn’t approve the avatar, late last month Rolling Stone reported that she worked with Activision to get Cobain’s character just right.

“Courtney supplied us with photos and videos and knew exactly what she wanted Kurt to look like. She picked the wardrobe and hair style, which turned out to be the ‘Teen Spirit’ look, then we went back and forth over changes — some subtle, some not so subtle,” Activision’s Vice President of Music Affairs Tim Riley told RS. He added that she was “actually great to work with.”

Love admitted that she did discuss an avatar with Activism but that she never gave the final approval for Cobain’s cartoon character.

“I said ‘show me a better avataR’ TO DRAG MY HEELS., never did i intend on allowing GUITARHERO for me or for Kurt i am NOT yoko f***ing Ono no ofense to her, but i am a different person entirely and this is insane,” Love tweeted.

“activision is fulllof s**t they have a a contcrct called a deal memo that said upon approvale they could use an avatar i approved I,” Love wrote. “and i never inteneded to aPPROVE this s**t, they are doing a recall you can be sure o fthat. waita ew hours maybe tomorrow press and etc.”

She also explained that she’s not rolling in dough in regards to the avatar deal, tweeting that “btw we get NO money for this, travesty, Frances gets NO money for the rape.”

Love told the Guardian she has plans to sue Activision.

“We are going to sue the s**t out of Activision; ‘we’ being the Trust, the Estate, the LLC, the various LLCs, Cobain Enterprises … For the record, this Guitar Hero shit is breach of contract on a bully’s part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction,” Love said.

Activision released the following statement earlier today:

“Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain’s likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero 5.”

Grohl and former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic then released the next statement, explaining that they had given “Guitar Hero 5″  the OK to use the tunes “Lithium” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit” but that they had nothing to do with Cobain’s avatar:

“We want people to know that we are dismayed and very disappointed in the way a facsimile of Kurt is used in the Guitar Hero game.  The name and likeness of Kurt Cobain are the sole property of his estate – we have no control whatsoever in that area.

“While we were aware of Kurt’s image being used with two Nirvana songs, we didn’t know players have the ability to unlock the character. This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants.   We urge Activision to do the right thing in ‘re-locking’ Kurt’s character so that this won’t continue in the future.

“It’s hard to watch an image of Kurt pantomiming other artists’ music alongside cartoon characters.  Kurt Cobain wrote songs that hold a lot of meaning to people all over the world.  We feel he deserves better.”
