Pogues For Halloween
Shane MacGowan and The Pogues are loading up their gear and heading for the States and it’s not even St. Patrick’s Day. But there probably will be Guinness involved.
The Pogues will kick off a 13-date mostly West Coast run Oct. 10 at Seattle’s Showbox SoDo and work their way south to finish with a bang with a Nov. 1 appearance at New Orleans’ Voodoo Experience.
Cities on the itinerary of the band Rolling Stone calls “the musical equivalent of a pub crawl” include San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Austin and Dallas.
Perhaps best known to most Americans for their classic Christmas rant “Fairytale in New York,” which features vocals by late British singer Kirsty MacColl, The Pogues recently found a new audience when their music was featured prominently in the storyline and soundtrack for the hit HBO series “The Wire.”
