“American Idol: Idol Gives Back,” which last year fell victim to the financial disaster that occurred during the final days of the Bush administration’s watch, will return April 21, according to MTV News.

Although no performers have been named for the event, which will air during the top-seven results episode of the new “American Idol” season, MTV said charities that stand to gain much needed help from the show include Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children and the United Nations Foundation.

“This is our opportunity to reach out and support the people of America and around the world who need our compassion and generosity to improve or even save their lives,” Simon Fuller, mastermind behind the show and CEO of 19 Entertainment, said in a statement about the special episode.

Previous “Idol Gives Back” shows, which featured artists like Bono, Pink, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Annie Lennox, Miley Cyrus and Carrie Underwood, have raised more than $140 million. During this year’s campaign, viewers will have an extra night to make donations.
