U2 Headed For Rock Band?

Last year the Irish rockers were talking with the game’s developers about lending their music and image to the popular franchise. Although those talks fell through, the band is still interested in giving the world a virtual Bono.

Chalk it up to “The Beatles: Rock Band.” As the latest chapter in the game series, it gives gamers the opportunity to climb the charts to success alongside John, Paul, George and Ringo. Apparently the Beatles-flavored version of “Rock Band” has U2 rethinking the whole music video game thing.

At least, that’s what Adam Clayton said. The U2 bass-man recently spoke to USA Today about the group’s “Rock Band” aspirations.

“We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren’t what we wanted,” Clayton told USA Today’s Edna Gundersen. “That could change. I love the idea that that’s where people are getting music, and we’d love to be in that world. We’ll figure something out. What the Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we’re interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. We didn’t want to be caricatured.”
