The singer, aka Stacy Ann Ferguson, is set to become a limited partner in the Miami Dolphins after she was approved during a meeting of NFL owners Tuesday in Boston. The only remaining detail is the paperwork, which is expected to be completed as soon as the Black Eyed Peas return from touring Australia.

Since Fergie and the BEPs already have a marketing partnership with the team, the move would seem to make perfect sense. However drafting the singer as a part owner of the Dolphins is all part of a strategy by owner Stephen Ross, who has already enlisted the star power of Jimmy Buffett, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Marc Anthony and Serena and Venus Williams, to add some glamour to the team’s image.

In return for being granted a limited partnership, which involves buying a small share in the team, Fergie and the other celebs have agreed to make appearances at the recently re-christened Land Shark Stadium in Miami Gardens during Dolphins home games.

Guess a certain radio talk show host who’s looking to get into the NFL ownership game (and meeting a lot of opposition) needs to either brush up on his singing skills or learn to play tennis.
