In what could only be categorized as a major Fail Whale, Miley Cyrus shocked her more than one million followers last Thursday when the “Hannah Montana” Disney star abruptly quit her frequently updated Twitter account.

The singer’s fans weren’t the only ones that felt abandoned by her decision not to constantly post updates on what she was listening to, eating and feeling.

Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who co-stars on “Hannah Montana” as her alter ego’s father, wrote the following tweet last Thursday evening, pleading with his daughter to rejoin Twitter:

“Miley. You are a light in a world of darkness. You were born”Destiny Hope Cyrus” for a reason. You can’t leave everyone now.We r countin on u.”

Reuters noted that one of Miley’s last Twitter posts pointed out that her rumored boyfriend Liam Hemsworth did not have a Twitter account “and wants me to delete mine with good reason.”

Miley posted a YouTube video last Friday, rapping up a storm, along with four female backup dancers, to explain why she had said goodbye to the 140-character service.

She explained that it wasn’t because “my friend told me to,” but that she “started tweeting about pimples. I stopped living for moments and started living for people.”

Miley also blamed the tabloids for reporting on her Twitter updates as breaking news.

“Everything that I type and everything that I do, all those lame gossip sites take it and they make it news. I want my private life private. I’m done trying to please. I ain’t living for tabloids, I’m living for me,” Miley rapped.

In a stroke of genius, Fallon combined Miley’s “Goodbye to Twitter” video with Billy Ray’s achy breaky heartache over Miley quiting the social network.

Fallon’s video features the talk show host sporting a Billy Ray lookalike wig and spitting out his own rhymes about Twitter while his four backup male dancers shake their booties.

“Hey there America, lets make this clear, Miley might be gone, but I’m still here,” Fallon raps.  “I may be a one-hitter, that doesn’t make me bitter. My career’s in the sh***er, but I aint no Twitter Quitter. I’m still here.”

Miley recently wrote a lengthy blog about her feelings regarding Twitter and cyberspace in general.

“I often complain to the ones closest to me that I don’t seem to have much of a private life any more and part of that is my fault. How can I whine about my life being to public if I am the one telling the world what I am doing?” Miley wrote on Mileyworld.com, according to Perezhilton.com.

“Some things in my life need to say in my life only and not on some gossip site. I never want any of my fans to feel like I don’t love them or care about them BUT, sharing the same love and respect for me I need to have the space to grow as a person and make some mistakes. I need to be able to live and learn in private. I never want to quit entertaining it is my life, my love, and my passion but I can’t have my personal life be other peoples entertainment.”
