Country Crossing On Track

Officials with the Country Crossing entertainment and gambling complex in Dothan, Ala., say the facility is on schedule to open Dec. 1 despite rainy spring and summer weather.

Mark Sheldon, VP of construction for developer Ronnie Gilley Properties, told the Dothan Eagle Oct. 29 that hundreds of employees are working at the site to finish three restaurants, a bed and breakfast, an amphitheatre and electronic bingo hall.

“Everybody is working with a purpose and we are not letting the weather get us down. The rain is not defeating us,” Sheldon said.

The resort, backed by country stars George Jones, Lorrie Morgan, Darryl Worley, Tracy Lawrence and John Anderson, broke ground March 21.

The complex will feature the Jones-themed Possum Holler Bed and Breakfast, Lorrie Morgan’s Hot Chicken Café, Worley’s Worley Bird Café, Tracey Lawrence BBQ and John Anderson Buffet along with retail shops, RV park, hotels, a bowling center and more, according to the County Crossing Web site.

Kellie Pickler is scheduled to open the facility’s Celebrity Station Amphitheatre Dec. 12. Houston County and Matt Kennon are also on the bill.
