AEG 3D

Couldn’t make it to Austin City Limits or Lollapalooza? A new partnership plans to bring 3D festival footage to a movie theater near you.

AEG’s Network Live subsidiary joined forces with Action 3D, AEG Live and C3 to capture more than 75 hours of 3D and 2D content in 2009. Events included ACL, Lollapalooza, All Points West, Mile High Music Festival, Virgin Mobile Free Festival and the Rothbury Music Festival.

“The combination of the new 3D technology and our strategic partnership with Action 3D have made it possible for AEG Network Live to create a new business model that allows us to shoot 3D concert performances for a wide range of artists and venues,” Network Live President John Rubey said in a statement.

The footage, which was originally delivered to TV, online and mobile partners including Hulu.com, AOL/Bebo and the Fuse, Palladia and GoTV networks, is being repackaged for feature-length 3D events in theatres.

The “inconcert 3D” offerings are expected to roll out by the end of the year.
