The tour kicks off Feb. 5 at Showbox At The Market in Seattle and wraps up Feb. 21 at the 9:30 Club in Washington. D.C.

Additional dates include Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, British Columbia (Feb. 6), Warfield Theatre in San Francisco (Feb. 8), Ogden Theatre in Denver (Feb. 13), Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto (Feb. 16), House of Blues in Boston (Feb. 18) and Terminal 5 in New York (Feb. 19).

The tour is the Editors’ first North American outing in two years having last performed in the states Feb. 14, 2008 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.

Editors’ third studio album, In This Light And On This Evening, was released in Europe in October, debuting at the top of the U.K. charts and in the top 10 throughout the rest of the continent.

The band took a different approach with In This Light And On This Evening with an emphasis on synthesizers.

“We’re all of the opinion that this is a pretty special album,” frontman Tom Smith told News Of The World. “But when we started it, we didn’t know what we were aiming for. We just knew that, for our own sanity, we had to do something we hadn’t done before.

“If we’d tried to make another more traditional guitar record, I don’t think we’d have got through it. So trying something new, recording in a different way and using different instruments, was the only option.”

Bassist Russell Leetch explained that the band tried to incorporate the feel of the live show into the album.

“We’ve always been very proud of our live show but we felt some of the power and energy of our performances was lost on the last two albums,” Leetch said.

“This record has a lot of electronics but it’s a very live-sounding affair. [Record producer] Flood likes the way we sound during gigs so he set up a really loud PA, as we’d have on stage, in the studio and got the four of us to play just like we would at a gig. And it worked.”

Presale tickets to the North American tour go on sale Dec. 10. Tickets to the general public will be available Dec. 12.
