Airing at 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time tonight on MSG is “Fuse Presents Jay-Z Live From Madison Square Garden: Answer The Call” followed by “Frank Sinatra: The Main Event Live From Madison Square Garden” at 11:30 p.m.
Both programs will have a second airing Saturday night, but with the times switched, meaning “The Main Event…” airs at 10:30 p.m. tomorrow night followed by “Fuse Presents Jay-Z…” at 11:30 p.m.
The Jay-Z concert is the rapper’s Sept. 11, 2009 performance at Madison Square Garden while the Sinatra airing features The Chairman of the Board’s famous “The Main Event” 1974 performance at the same venue.
MSG calls it “Two Generations of Cool” and is conducting a poll giving viewers the opportunity to decide once and for all which artist’s song is the most popular New York City anthem – Sinatra’s rendition of “New York, New York,” or Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind.”
Along with the broadcasts of these two special concerts, MSG and Pollstar are giving away one Frank Sinatra box set – a 5 CD collection of live recordings featuring Sinatra’s New York City performances, titled Sinatra: New York.
How do you win this most excellent CD package? Just send us the best mash-up of Sinatra and Jay-Z song titles. Combine one Jay-Z song title with a Sinatra title, send it to us at [email protected], and our expert judges will bounce the entries off the padded walls of their cells offices and pick a worthy winner.
Deadline is Monday, Dec. 7, 11:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
