Goodbye FOTC

Flight of the Conchords has flown the coop, at least on TV.

The dynamic New Zealanders announced on their Web site Dec. 10 that the duo’s HBO show won’t be back for a third season, despite Emmy nominations and critical acclaim for the series.

“We’ve noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won’t be returning for a 3rd season,” Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement wrote. “While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist.”

Perhaps that existence will include touring plans. The pair had a wildly successful theatre trek through the U.S. earlier this year.
