Straz Relief In Tampa Bay

Give a sizable donation to an arts organization, and you can usually count on being listed as an “angel” in the group’s annual report.

Make a really big donation, and you can get an entire venue named for you.

That’s just what happened at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Florida, renamed the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, in recognition of the largest such individual gift in the area’s history.

The amount of the Straz family’s gift is confidential, but PAC prexy Judith Lisi said the gift “is a significant step toward our institution goal of a $100 million endowment.”

The 335,000-square-foot PAC opened in 1987 and houses five theatres, three restaurants and the Patel Conservatory.
