Winehouse In Trouble Again

Amy Winehouse was charged with assault today in Milton Keynes, England, following an alleged incident at a local theatre.

The 26-year-old singer was booked under her married name of Amy Civil and charged with a public order offense and common assault. As Winehouse followers already know, the singer and Blake Fielder-Civil were granted a divorce in July.

Not much is known about the details of the case, but according to London’s Sun newspaper, Winehouse is alleged to have assaulted a theatre manager Saturday after “disrupting a performance of Cinderella.”

Winehouse appeared voluntarily with her lawyer at a Milton Keynes police station where she was booked on assault charges and released. She is scheduled to appear in the city’s Magistrates’ Court Jan. 20.

Perhaps as a sign that Winehouse’s popularity has waned a bit this year, her latest run-in with the law barely made headlines in London-based tabloid newspapers.

While previous Winehouse incidents always dominated the space above the fold, today’s report was topped in the Sun by articles about a pro soccer coach seen going to a brothel, Aussie singer Peter Andre taking his kids to Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland and details on Boyzone singer Stephen Gately’s death. Such are the trials of fame and fortune.
