Whoops! Sorry, Tokio Hotel
For a few brief moments it looked as if The Black Eyed Peas had won Best International Group at France’s NRJ Awards held in Cannes. That is, until one of the presenters said he read the wrong name on the card.

Presented by Ke$ha and French Choreographer Kamel Ouali, the award was supposed to be given to Tokio Hotel, but Quali mistakenly announced The Peas as recipients. Ouali blamed the error on the card containing the nominees as well as the winner, according to London’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.
But BEP didn’t go home empty handed. The group won “Best International Song” for “I Gotta Feeling” when it opened the program.

This isn’t the first time a NRJ snafu resulted in the wrong nominee announced as a winner. Last year Katy Perry was announced as recipient of “Best International Song,” when Rihanna was the actual winner. Oh, well. Better luck next year.
