Eventim Silent On Merger Approvals

CTS Eventim execs aren’t saying what they think of the US Department Of Justice’s approval of the Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger.

“No comment from our side on this,” Eventim legal and communications head Rainer Appel told Pollstar, suggesting it’s a case of waiting and seeing what the Bremen-based company does next.

It has already appealed the UK Competition Commission’s decision to allow the merger. If the tribunal upholds the CC’s ruling, Eventim could then take the matter to the Court Of Appeal.

Live Nation’s London office is clearly irked at Klaus-Peter Schulenburg’s company’s stance, coming at a time when both firms are working hard to ensure the successful but belated launch of their new UK ticketing platform.

Under the terms of the 10-year ticketing deal LN and Eventim signed at the end of 2007, the German company would have had it up and running as of Jan. 1.

Live Nation says Eventim’s objections to the CC’s decision are without foundation, with UK president Paul Latham describing it as “a fleeting annoyance.”
