Hall Of Fame president Joel Peresman released a statement yesterday saying Gabriel will not make the March 15 ceremony because of touring commitments in Europe.

Genesis’ original lineup consisted of Gabriel along with Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, Anthony Phillips and Steve Hackett. Phil Collins, who joined as the band’s drummer in 1970, took over the lead vocalist chores after Gabriel’s departure in 1975. Genesis’ 1976 album – Trick Of the Tail – was the band’s first release featuring newly christened frontman Collins.

Gabriel is scheduled to begin a brief European tour in Paris March 22, and only has four shows scheduled in North America – April 28 in Montreal, April May 2 and 3 in New York City and May 7 in Los Angeles.

The induction ceremonies are scheduled for March 15 in New York City at the Waldorf Astoria. For more information, click here for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Web site.
