Schoolhouse Soul

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings have logged a lot of miles since the release of their smash 2007 album 100 Days, 100 Nights. Along the way, they picked up a wealth of information and they’re ready to share it on their latest project, I Learned the Hard Way.

Jones and company will warm up for a late spring/early summer North American tour in support of Hard Way, due April 6 on Daptone Records, with a swing through Europe (stopping in Germany, France, London and Amsterdam), as well as a handful of Stateside festival appearances.

The group will launch its U.S. and Canadian shows in style, with a pair of record release parties April 30-May 1 at the famed Apollo Theatre in New York City.

Although they only have dates on the books through late June, look for Jones and the boys to be out on the road a lot more than that this year.

Hard Way is Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings fourth full-length release on Daptone. The band is describing the album as a “bold step forward” that features both Philly-Soul cuts like “The Game Gets Old” and Sam Cooke-style tracks like “Mama Don’t Like My Man.”
