Tom Petty Gets His Tour ‘Mojo’ Working
The boys are hitting the road in support of their first studio album in 8 years – Mojo – scheduled for an early Spring release.
Fans purchasing tickets online will be e-mailed codes entitling them to download two tracks from the album – “First Flash Of Freedom” and “Good Enough” – and will receive a download of the entire album upon its release.
You can also get a taste of Mojo by listening to the stream of “Good Enough” available on the group’s Web site.
Let’s look at the dates.
The tour begins in Raleigh, N.C., at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion May 6. Charlotte is up next, as the band plays the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre May 7. Other stops include Houston at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion May 16; Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl May 22; Quincy, Wash., at The Gorge June 11-12; Edmonton at Rexall Place June 16; Winnipeg at MTS Center June 19; Milwaukee’s Summerfest June 25; Chicago at United Center July 17; New York at Madison Square Garden July 28 and Mansfield, Mass., at the Comcast Center August 19 & 21. Last date on the schedule is Aug. 27 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
The special guest lineup has Joe Cocker appearing May 6 to June 19; Drive-By Truckers June 22-23 & July 10-24; ZZ Top June 25; Crosby, Stills & Nash Aug. 11-17 & 25-27 and My Morning Jacket Aug. 19-24. Special guests for July 28 (New York City) and July 31 (Philadelphia) are yet to be determined.
