Boyle’s Concert Debut

Susan Boyle, who made her Japan singing debut as a special guest on public broadcaster NHK’s New Year’s Eve song contest last December, will make her Japan concert debut, again as a guest.

On April 1 she will appear with the Yomiuri Japan Symphony at Budokan for one of the orchestra’s “Grand Concerts,” according to the Yomiuri Web site.

The first half of the concert will be dedicated to screen music. Boyle will sing during the second half.

Normally, Yomiuri – or any other symphony orchestra, for that matter – doesn’t perform in Budokan, whose acoustics are hardly suitable for classical music.

April 1 also happens to be Boyle’s 49th birthday.
