More City Stages Suits

Financial disputes from last year’s City Stages Festival in Birmingham, Ala., are far from resolved.

Eight acts are reportedly suing the event’s parent company, Birmingham Cultural And Heritage Foundation, and former president George McMillan, claiming they were paid with rubber checks.

The suit, filed in Jefferson County Circuit Court by the Doobie Brothers, Neville Brothers and Indigo Girls among other plaintiffs, seeks $167,800.

McMillan has denied any wrongdoing and previously said all debts will be addressed in the foundation’s Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings.
