Sound Relief Tops $9M

At the first anniversary of the massive Sound Relief shows in Sydney and Melbourne, Michael Gudinski’s record label Liberation Music announced that the 4-DVD set of the shows had grossed over A$1 million since their release last October.

This brings the grand total of funds generated by the shows to more than $9.1 million.

Gudinski’s Frontier Touring Company partnered with Chugg Entertainment to put on the shows. Acts performing included Coldplay, Midnight Oil, Kings of Leon, John Farnham and Barry Gibb.

Robert Tickner, CEO of Red Cross, said the extra $1 million would “support our crucial everyday work preparing Australian communities for future disasters, whether they be floods, cyclones or bushfires.”
