Earth Day 2010 Climate Rally
Sting isn’t just singing to save the rainforests – he’s also joining in to help save the earth. Before performing at the Rainforest Benefit Concert in May, this month the singer is participating in Earth Day 2010 Climate Rally.
This year’s Earth Day takes place April 25 with the 40th anniversary celebration going down right where things first got started four decades ago, at The National Mall in Washington D.C. The event will include live music, speeches and eco-village exhibits.

In addition to Sting, supporters will also enjoy performances by artists including John Legend, The Roots, Bob Weir, Patrick Stump, Mavis Staples, Passion Pit, Q-Tip and Booker T.
Sting’s wife and Rainforest Fund co-founder Trudie Styler will also be there along with other environmental stewards including Reverend Jesse Jackson, film director James Cameron, Olympic gold medalist Billy Demong and author Margaret Atwood.

“Forty years after the first Earth Day, we are joined by some of today’s most influential artists and thought-leaders around the world with a clear agenda for Earth Day’s 40th Anniversary,” said Kathleen Rogers, President, Earth Day Network. “Together, we will issue the call to our elected leaders to take action that will equitably and effectively address climate change.”
Supporters can get involved in the days leading up to the big celebration by participating in service projects, advocacy events, performance arts and exhibits taking place April 17-25 across the U.S.
A variety of events are scheduled from participating in the Las Vegas Cleanup April 17 as volunteers recycle trash to keep it out of Lake Mead to attending the an Environmental Education Fair in Smithfield, R.I.

The Earth Day Network and its partners are also planning large-scale tree plantings, school greenings, music events and exhibitions around the world from Rabat, Morocco; to Tokyo to Kolkata, India.
