Magid’s His Own Boss

Larry Magid didn’t rack up more than 40 years in the Philadelphia concert scene by playing it safe. The renowned promoter recently had some choice words for the Philadelphia Daily News about the keys to a lengthy career.

“What you have to do to stay vital in this business is continue to evolve,” he said. “Someone like me could be a catalyst for other opportunities.”

But speaking of other opportunities, after parting ways with Live Nation earlier this year, it doesn’t sound like Magid is chomping at the bit to work for another company.

“I’m not going to work for anyone ever again,” he said. “Nobody’s going to own me or my company.

“I missed being an entrepreneur, not an executive with a large public company.”
