Currie, who kicks off a seven-date U.K. run May 20 in Manchester, will launch the second leg of his U.S. trek June 10 at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall.

Other stops on the calendar include Minneapolis, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

War, which dropped earlier this week, is the follow up to the singer’s critically acclaimed 2007 debut, What Is Love For.

The new album gives fans an opportunity to revel in Currie’s signature vocals as he explores everything from darkly lyrical themes to budding optimism, all backed by a sonic backdrop that sets it apart from his work with Del Amitri.

“If I have a mission as an artist it would be to get a little more poetry into the great warehouse of rock music,” the singer explained. “All I can do is get it out there and fight to be heard; that’s the great war.”
