Eminem / Jay-Z Set For Ballparks

Two rappers, two concerts and two major league baseball stadiums add up to one of the biggest co-headlines of the year as Eminem and Jay-Z lock down Detroit and NYC for September shows.

The first of the Live Nation-produced concerts takes place in Em’s Motor City stomping grounds, scheduled for Sept. 2 at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers.

Then it’s off to New York City’s Yankee Stadium for a gig Sept. 13.

The artists announced the shows Wednesday night on ESPN during the cable sports channel’s coverage of the Tigers / Yankees doubleheader.

“This is a once in a lifetime set of shows and I know we’re both really going to bring it to our home towns,” Eminem said. “The fans are going to love this – and so am I. It’s gonna be historic.”

“These shows are like a dream come true,” Jay-Z said. “I’ve always hoped that hip-hop could play any stadium like other genres of music. How perfect is it that Eminem and I get to play our hometowns and show how far the live rap experience has come? Fun and historic, a great combination all around the board.”

Each artist will close in his hometown with the other opening the show.  Ticket information will be announced shortly. For more info, click here for Eminem’s website and here for Jay-Z’s virtual abode.
