Aerosmith Says It’s ‘Cocked, Locked, Ready To Rock’ North America
For a while it looked as if last summer’s aborted tour was going to turn into Aerosmith’s swan song. Although last summer’s tour was cut short after Steven Tyler injured his shoulder while tumbling off the stage in Sturgis, S.D., the band did manage to honor some fall commitments.
It was shortly after one of those fall dates when Tyler told a reporter he was going to spend some time concentrating on his own solo career. That led to speculation that Tyler was leaving the band – a situation that seemed to generate new rumors daily until earlier this year when the band announced the first few overseas dates of its 2010 tour.
Now after several South American dates, the band is ready to rock the house once more. Presented by Live Nation, the North American tour begins in Oakland at Oracle Arena July 23, plays California’s Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles July 26 then heads down the coast to Irvine for a gig at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater July 29.
Other stops include Las Vegas at MGM Grand Garden Arena July 31; Dallas at Superpages.com Amphitheatre Aug. 3; Tampa at Ford Amphitheatre Aug. 7, Wantagh, N.Y., at Nikon At Jones Beach Theatre Aug. 12; Toronto at Air Canada Centre Aug. 17 and Atlantic City at Boardwalk Aug. 28. Last show on the schedule is in Uncasville, Conn., at Mohegan Sun Arena Sept. 4.
Previously announced shows include the band’s upcoming Europe run beginning at the Sweden Rock Festival in Solvesborg June 10 and a gig with J. Geils Band at Boston’s Fenway Park Aug. 14.
“I thought it was time to get my Mojo back, by rockin’ South America and Europe with a little home run at Boston’s Fenway Park thrown in and then off to the rest of America to do what we do best,” Tyler said. “We’re gonna rock you into the middle of next week!”
Sammy Hagar & The Wabos will open on 11 of the 16 announced shows. Fan club presales begin June 2 in some markets and general onsales in several markets begin June 4.
